The Afterlives of Early Italian Colonialism
This virtual exhibition focusses on a selection of objects collected in Africa by the nineteenth-century Italian explorer, Luigi Robecchi Bricchetti, which are now stored in the Kosmos Museum of Natural History in Pavia. It draws connections between this little-known collection and other institutions across the world that hold objects from East Africa. It asks questions about colonialism, memory, and material culture that we will continue to explore throughout our project, including in a final exhibition we are currently planning.
